Mezzo secolo di caricatura milanese 1860 – 1910

Author:

Otto Cima

136 caricatures show vices and virtues and the characters from Milan between 1860 and 1910. The source for the work was an exhibition of 1927 about “caricatures and parodies”, to which drawings by the painter Daniel Fontana had been added. The various characters are grouped according to different periods that take their name from the Mayor that was appointed at the time. The character’s caricature goes always together with a small and funny caption that gives the context and the reason for the ironic portrait.
