Alexandre Dumas retraces the history of the dukes of Savoy in more or less 2000 pages, divided in 4 volumes. He shows the reader the relevant events that took place in the dukedoms of Savoy between 1555 and 1849, from Emmanuel Philibert to Charles Albert. In this volume, Dumas goes on narrating the story of Emmanuel Philibert and that of his successor Charles Emmanuel, called “the Great”.
